Port Moody Voice will be fielding a full slate of candidates in the 2026 Port Moody municipal election and this page will be updated with each announcement. Each candidate will be dedicated to standing up for a future that the residents of this community want to see.
Haven Lurbiecki, Mayoral Candidate

Since being elected to Port Moody City Council in 2022, Haven has been fighting hard for you, championing the right for people to be heard and fighting for the needs of our community. She has represented the community’s calls for truly moderate growth, affordable and livable housing, growing the local economy, and park expansion, while shining a light on decision-making at city hall. During her term she has brought forward numerous considerations to the council focused on improving public engagement, increasing transparency, and ensuring development meets the needs of the community. Some examples include:
- Advocated for a community referendum so residents could have the final say on tower heights in Moody Centre.
- Proposed a bold expansion of Rocky Point Park to secure more green space for future generations.
- Led the call for greater transparency such as through the creation of a lobbyist registry.
- Pushed for meaningful public engagement on major development plans, including the 14- tower framework in Moody Centre.
Haven has worked tirelessly to keep residents informed and she fearlessly speaks up on issues that matter. Why? Because like you, she loves our community and recognizes just how special Port Moody is. She cares deeply about its residents and has full trust that they can help guide the future direction of our city.
As Mayor Haven will continue to champion your voice and the issues that matter at city hall.

A Bit More About Haven
As a long-time resident Haven has always been a strong voice for issues such as balanced growth, affordable housing and park expansion. Prior to being elected to council she was an active volunteer on city committees and in following municipal discussions where she directly championed these issues to city council. She came to the job prepared.
Outside of local government, Haven has worked as a senior policy analyst and currently runs her own consultancy. Haven holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Simon Fraser University and a Masters Degree in Resource and Environmental Management from Dalhousie University.
When not hard at work, you can find Haven enjoying Port Moody and BC’s amazing trails and parks or having a cup of coffee with her husband Rick. She has two wonderful step kids and one overly exuberant dog named Ace (by far the most recognized member of the family around town).
