Port Moody, BC — [May 9, 2026] — Pharmacist, community health care leader, and Port Moody dad Mark Kunzli has announced his candidacy for Port Moody City Council with Port Moody Voice.

Kunzli has spent nearly 20 years working in community health care and currently serves on the City’s Transportation Committee, as well as the Boards of Directors for both the BC Pharmacy Association and the Canadian Pharmacists Association.

But he says his decision to run started as a parent simply trying to share his experience raising a family in the community.

“Like many residents, I went to a public hearing because I was concerned about the direction of the city and wanted to understand what was happening,” said Kunzli. “The more I engaged with local politics, the more I realized we need better ways to listen to each other, respect different perspectives, and grow our community together.”

Kunzli says many residents feel they participate in consultations but don’t see themselves reflected in the decisions that follow, a feeling he shares. He believes growth must be planned responsibly, with infrastructure, traffic planning, and community services keeping pace as the city changes.

“I want residents to be able to look at a Council decision, understand why it was made, and trust that commitments made to the community will actually be followed through on,” he said.

As a father raising two young daughters in Port Moody, Kunzli says he is focused on protecting the qualities that make the city special while planning responsibly for the future.

Kunzli announced his candidacy at a campaign launch event followed by a town hall, where residents were invited to share their priorities and help shape the platform Port Moody Voice will bring into the October election.
